Republican Committee Chairman Reince Priebus defended Donald Trump’s all but certain victory to become the GOP nominee, and said Trump’s ascent is healthy for the party.
You know what, I think something different and something new is probably good for our party, Priebus said on CNN’s New Day Wednesday. Look, I don’t think anyone predicted what happened. So, look, we’re here. We’re going to get behind the presumptive nominee.
In a tweet Tuesday night after Trump’s decisive win in the Indiana primary and Ted Cruz’s subsequent campaign suspension, Priebus said that Trump is the presumptive nominee and that the GOP needs to unite and focus on Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in November.
