On November 17, 2017, I read what was written about me in your newspaper [“‘Journalist’ Ayat Oraby: Mainstream or Extreme?” by Samantha Rose Mandeles], and before commenting on what was written, let me share with you some memories of the past four years. On the 14th of August 2013, and like tens of millions of other people, I was watching the horrible footage coming from Rabaa square in Cairo. Bulldozers were driving over dead bodies, bullets were fired on unarmed anti-coup protesters, smoke was rising in the air, and sounds of screams were met with blaring sirens and devastated cries.
